September 2005 - Over 500
people attended the VIP reception for the Bass Museum's highly
anticipated blockbuster exhibition Retratos: 2,000 Years of Latin
American Portraits. A Latin American theme prevailed in the decor,
the delicious refreshments, and the lively music that guests enjoyed
in the Bass café and terrace throughout the evening. The crowd
viewed the remarkable exhibition in the new wing's upstairs
galleries, filled with more than 100 objects from 15 countries.
Diane Camber, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Bass
Museum of Art, welcomed Friends of the Bass Museum members,
government officials from throughout Miami-Dade County, and many
diplomats from Latin American countries who were on-hand to
celebrate the occasion. Ms. Camber expressed her gratitude to Ford
Motor Fund for sponsoring the exhibition, reception, and the
extensive educational and outreach programs the Museum is providing
throughout the exhibition. Retratos: 2,000 Years of Latin American
Portraits is on view through October 2, 2005. For more information
